How to Program Your Universal Cable Remote Without a Booklet

3. Call the manufacturer of the universal remote, as a last resort, if the remote was not provided to you by the cable company. If you use a universal remote that you purchased from a third party, contact the maker of the remote to get the codes or a new manual sent to you.

4. Follow the directions for your specific universal cable remote control to add each electronic device. Most manuals also have the instructions to search for a code for a device if it's not listed in the book.
