How to Remove a 1999 BMW 328I Fog Light

Fog lights are an important part of a BMW's lighting system. When it becomes foggy and or rainy out, these lights allow the driver to safely see where he's going. Because they're mounted in a vulnerable spot, on the lower leading edge of the car, fog lights are also one of those parts that often need to be replaced. On a BMW 328i, removing the fog lights is not a difficult procedure if the correct steps are taken.

    Things You'll Need

    • Long, thin screwdriver or similar tool
    • Towel
      • 1

Open the front hood on the car.

      • 2

Look down at the back portion of the fog light on the engine side. The fog lights are located on the right and left sides of the front of the car.

      • 3

Locate the small, black release clip on the back of the fog light housing.

      • 4

Note the location of the release clip and then move to the fog light itself in the front of the car.

      • 5

Locate the hole next to the fog light that will allow you to insert the long screwdriver.

      • 6

Lay a towel down below the fog light in case it falls out of the car and you can't catch it. While looking down into the engine compartment, insert the screwdriver and slide it through the hole in the bumper until it is pressing against the clip.

      • 7

Press firmly on the clip with the screwdriver to release it, but be careful not to break the clip. Pull out the fog light.

      • 8

Remove the wires that are connected to the back of the fog light.
