How to Make A Personal Price Book, To Save Money

Saving money is important to us all. We all try to buy items at the best price, but it is hard to remember every price that we see. Making yourself a price book can help you remember all of the prices, and purchase items at the best price you can find. It will give you a reference guide for comparing prices.

Instructions

    • 1

You should first have a small notebook. I have found that the small, personal books work best. They are easy to carry with you, and are not inconvenient.

    • 2

You want to think of items you purchase for your home. This can be foods, soaps, or cleaning supplies.

    • 3

Make a page in your book for each item. You also want a few blank pages for items you may forget.

    • 4

Now you can start keeping track of the prices. When you are listing items in your book include; Date, Store, Item, Brand, size, price, and unit price. This will help you determine what the best prices are, and you will start noticing stores that have better prices all together.

Tips & Warnings

  • Unit price is important. Some companies try to make the items seem less expensive, but in fact the unit price is much more expensive.

  • Calculate the unit price by deciding the size by the price. Ex. 12 oz bottle at 3.99. 3.99 divided by 12 equals .33 per unit.
