Decorative pens are available in novelty and gift shops, but they are usually quite pricey. Whether you are using pens for school, work or home, you can dress them up yourself with limited supplies and little cost. There are many ways to be creative when using beads to decorate pens.
Things You'll Need
- Standard office-size ink pens
- Adhesive paper
- Double-sided clear tape
- Large tray or serving plate
- Clear micro beads
Lay a sheet of adhesive paper on a flat surface. Place the pen at one end and roll the paper around the pen until it wraps only once all the way around. Make a mark with your pencil to indicate how much paper is needed. Use the same measurement for your decorative paper.
Set your pen aside and use a paper cutter to cut at the mark you made on the adhesive film sheet and your decorative paper. Use double-sided tape to cover the blank side of the decorative paper. Trim the excess from around the paper so that there is not any visible tape from the other side.
Place your pen carefully onto the side of the paper covered in tape. Be sure to place the pen right at the edge and even with the tape so that the paper covers the pen the way it did when you measured. Carefully roll the adhesive paper around the pen. If there is some excess, trim it with some scissors.
Remove the protective sheet from the adhesive paper. Be careful not to touch the sticky surface; instead, hold your pen at the ends. Pour clear micro beads onto your tray or plate and roll the pen around in them until it is completely covered. Use your hands to press the beads down.
Your beaded pen cover can now be used on other pens of the same size. Just remove the ballpoint and ink tube from the plastic barrel of the pen when the ink runs out. Replace the ballpoint and ink tube with those from another pen.
