How to Connect a Laptop to an LCD TV

Connecting a laptop to LCD TV allows you to use a TV screen as a computer monitor or simply watch a movie played on your laptop. LCD TVs have HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) input that is the latest digital multimedia standard. The laptop will have DVI (Digital Video Interface) video card output.

Things You'll Need:

• HDMI to DVI-D cable

1. 
    
   TV HDMI port.

   Plug the HDMI connector of the cable into the HDMI port of your TV.

2. 
    
   DVI port

   Insert the DVI connector of the cable into the computer DVI port.

3. Tune up your TV on the HDMI channel.

4. On a Windows Vista computer, right-click on Desktop and choose "Personalize." Then click "Display Settings." You will see two icons denoted as "1" and "2" that correspond to two monitors.

5. Click on the icon "2." Check the box "Extend the desktop onto this monitor" and click "OK." The computer desktop will appear on your TV in one to three seconds.
