Play Tennis After You Are 50 Years Old and Become a Better Senior Tennis Player

When you play tennis after 50 years old and become a senior tennis player you need to make some adjustments to help you play better and win matches.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Your two best shots will be the drop shot and the lob. The logical reasons are your senior opponents can't run as fast, have trouble bending, and can't move backwards well.

  2. Step 2

Your opponents will also know that drop shots and lobs will be tough for you. Instead of playing at the baseline stand a couple of feet inside the baseline so you have a chance of getting to a drop shot. When you are at net play a little further back than usual, your opponent will probably not notice since depth perception is not picked up that well.

  3. Step 3

If someone hits a lob over your head, always turn sideways before going backward. If you don't turn sideways you could lose your balance and have a bad fall.

  4. Step 4

When playing doubles you should still try to have both players at net. It may take you an extra ball or two to get there, but the team that hits the first volley usually wins the point.

  5. Step 5

Instead of trying to hit the corners when you serve, go down the middle, since this will cut down the angles your opponent can hit the ball.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use Dynamic Stretching. Walk on your toes and heels instead of doing toe touches.
