How to Cancel Your eBay Account
EBay is known as being one of the top online auction sites and is used by millions of people every year. While most sellers and buyers are pleased with the site and never consider canceling their accounts, you may want to cancel their eBay account at some point. EBay, while cautioning you to rethink the idea of canceling the account, makes the cancellation process extremely easy.

Make sure you really want to close your account. Closing your account is permanent and will mean you'll need to sign up for a new account once the initial waiting period for closing the account is over.

Check your account balance. Before you can close down your eBay account, all balances must be zero. To check your balance, login to your eBay account and click the "My eBay" tab.

Request a refund if there is money in your account. If you're a seller, you may have a positive account balance, so you'll need to request a refund by clicking the first link in the "Resources" section.

Pay your account balance. You can do this by logging into your eBay account and clicking "My eBay" and then "Account." From there, click "Pay Account Balance."

Close your account by clicking the second link in the "Resources" section of this article. Then select a category for why you're leaving the site and fill out the ticket. Click the "Submit" button to submit the ticket and the account will be closed within 2-7 business days.

Tips & Warnings
Don't close your account if you only have a couple of negative feedback ratings. Many sellers and even buyers mistakenly close their accounts and open new ones because they think a couple of negative ratings will haunt them, when in reality, a couple of negative feedback ratings will hardly matter at all. That's why you should really think about whether closing your account is the right choice.
