How to View SMS Message History

SMS messages are small text files that phone users can send to each other. Most cell phone service companies include texting features that allow you to send and receive text messages anytime. In addition, the text message history is saved on your phone, and you can view sent and received messages anytime you want.

Instructions

1. Select the "Messages" option on your phone. Most phones have a direct link to "Messages" on the phone's main page. If you do not see the messages option, refer to your phone's operating manual for the location.

2. Select "Inbox." You will see a list of the recent and older SMS messages you have received. The messages display the dates and times they were delivered to your inbox as well as the senders.

3. Select "Sent" to view the messages that you have sent to others. Like the inbox settings, the messages will display the dates and times you sent the messages as well as the recipient. Scroll through the sent SMS history and select the message you want to view.

4. Select "Drafts" to view saved messages that have not been sent. The drafts section contains messages that are unfinished or finished and waiting to be sent.
