How to Easily Put a Duvet Cover on a Comforter

A down comforter can be kept clean and protected by enclosing it in a duvet cover. If your down comforter has a plain white covering, encasing it in a duvet cover also allows you to add some texture, color or pattern to your bedroom. It can be challenging to get a duvet cover to slip evenly over your comforter -- unless you learn a simple trick. Does this Spark an idea?

      Spread your down comforter out on a bed or other flat surface. Turn your duvet cover inside out.

      Reach into the duvet cover. Extend your arms until you reach the corners of the short end of the duvet cover.

      Grasp the duvet cover's corners, along with the corners at the short end of the down comforter. You will be grasping the comforter through the duvet fabric.

      Hang onto to both sets of corners as you lift up the duvet cover and the comforter simultaneously. Shake them gently from the corners to ease the duvet cover over the comforter. The duvet cover will turn right-side out as you do this.

      Place the duvet cover and comforter on the bed. Smooth out the cover and close the open edge around the comforter.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may need a helper if your are working with a large-size duvet and comforter.
