The Apple iPhone offers users numerous ways to customize the device. The phone ships with a collection of ringtones and sounds. If you do not like the standard tone that rings when you use your iPhone, you can choose from any of the others.
Things You'll Need
Turn on your iPhone. Tap the "Settings" icon on the home screen.
Tap "Sounds" to open the Sounds screen. Tap on "Ringtone" in the list of items that have sounds affiliated with them.
Look for a check mark next to the ringtone you are currently using on the iPhone. Tap any of the sounds on the list to hear a preview of the ringtone. Note that the check mark appears next to any sound you preview. Leave the check mark next to the ringtone you prefer.
Press the "Home" button centered under the display to return to the home screen.
Look at the side of the iPhone case in the upper left corner. Above the plus and minus buttons used to control volume is a switch to mute the phone. Move the switch until you see a red color to mute all the phone sounds.
