How Kathy Spencer Shops for FREE

After all the media coverage and all the information that I have spelled out my sites people are still asking me ," How do you do it?" and "How can I too shop for free?".
        .
First off I must tell you there is no magic wand that I wave at the checkout that takes my total from 280.00 to a penny.
The only thing I wave at the checkout is my large stack of coupons....and believe me it is a large stack of coupons.
Although during the taping with Good Morning America as the total dropped with each coupon that was scanned I did fee like the sky opened and the Coupon Gods shined down upon me and blessed me with a one cent subtotal!

So, if you want to shop the way I do first you need to change the way you think and shop.
I am not the average shopper that makes a list of what I need and goes and buys it.
My list is based on what is free or near free for week at the store and that's it, no add on allowed unless I have store play money to burn up.
        How do I do that?
I search the weekly ads and look for things that are on sale and that I know will work out close to free by what I remember seeing coupons for.
I then circle what those items are in the ad and then go look for the coupons to match the product if they are free they get added to the list and I buy as many as I have coupons for or as many as the stores coupon policy allows in a trip. I often make multiple trips and transactions to make the most of the sales.
I also pay close attention to stores coupons and promotions. You are allowed to use a store coupon with a manufacturers coupon, a lot of times those two will make for a free item. If something is free I get it. If I have a buy one get one free manufacturers coupon and the store has a buy on get one free sale on the same item, that make the item free!

People always say why get something if you don't need it, or say I don't need 10 jars of peanut butter.
My answer to that is if you don't need it someone else will.
I did not need the 6 diabetes monitors that I picked up at CVS while shopping with Inside Edition but I got them because I will be donating them to my local Council on Aging , a lot of people have diabetes and don't test regularly because they can't afford the meter. So if you can get something for free take it chances are a friend or family member will need it and if not donate it, you can even get a tax write off for donating free items.
As for I don't need that much peanut butter. I hear this one all the time; they say I only need one.
My answer to that is look at the expiration date, if it's a year from now ask yourself how many jars will you use in that time frame. If you say 6 and they are free then get them.
The trick to shopping for free is to stockpile.
Stockpile anything that is free and you will no longer have a need to buy those items. Once you learn the cycle of sales and coupons you can plan ahead.
Another question I get is "how do you get milk or meat for free?"
Believe it or not their actually are coupons for milk and meat. I get free milk frequently, usually organic milk companies put out high value coupons , pair them with a sale and you will get free milk. Wine tags are an excellent source for getting free meat and produce. Wine tags are harder to come by but they frequently have coupons tat state save 5.00 on ham, save 1.00 on seafood, save 2.00 on produce.
When I get wine tags I make sure I get the right weight to make the item for free.
I can also make a lot of store money by rolling the Catalina deals in the stores flyer and getting what works out free and then rolling the deal.
That is a little confusing and I explain that on my site.
