How To Transfer Music From Windows Media Player to Itunes

If you have an iPod, it is necessary that you use iTunes to put your music on the player. New iPod users may find themselves in a panic when they realize they have all of their music on Windows Media Player, and no music on iTunes. Luckily, it is simple to transfer music files from Windows Media Player to iTunes. Also, there is no need to worry about converting your music files, because iTunes does it automatically.

Instructions

    • 1

Open iTunes by either double-clicking on the desktop icon, or by clicking on the "Start" menu which is normally located in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. Search in the "Applications" section under the Start menu.

    • 2

Click on "File" in the iTunes toolbar and scroll down to "Add Folder to Library."

    • 3

Choose the folder titled "My Music" and click on the "OK" button. This folder is the default folder for Windows Media Player.

    • 4

Click "Convert" if iTunes finds any music files that must be converted. ITunes does not support formats such as WMA, so they must be converted in order for them to be playable on iTunes or iPods.

    • 5

Wait for the files to finish transferring before closing iTunes. Once finished, you can add music to your iPod.
