Stacy London, host of What Not To Wear, emphasizes that anyone, men or women should stay clear away from shiny fabrics as they illuminate your not-so flattering spots and are like a magnifying glass to facial bumps.

Practice posing in the mirror to look to see what angles are most flattering on you. Magazines and supermodel photos can give you nice helpful hints, but not everything that looks good on someone may be most flattering to you and vice versa. Don't be ashamed to look at photos of yourself and choose the poses in those photos that you look best in and rock that "your style" that makes you shine.

Play around with make up styles that are best for your face shape and skin texture. Again, look at past photos for what works and what doesn't. If you need assistance finding the right types of make-up looks and products for you, invest in Make-up books like Bobbi Brown's Make-Up Manual and Iman's The Ultimate Beauty Guide for Skin Color (as seen in resource box below). Buy magazines that teach you how to find flattering make-up specific to you.

In addition to make-up tricks, going for the natural, day time look is best when taking photos. Don't overdo it in the make-up department and only use make-up to conceal and enhance in moderation. Apply foundation when it's needed, paying attention to the center of the forehead, the sides and tip of the nose, the sides of the cheeks and chin.

As Tyra Banks puts it, smiling doesn't always having to be showing teeth. Again, this goes with the confidence idea that if you are relaxed, in a positive mood, your photos will show it. Confidence is instant beauty in any photograph and your smile, whether closed or not, should be genuine and full of enthusiasm.
Finally, show more alluring confidence by keeping your body language open and positive. Don't cross arms, slouch, and face the camera's direction. Tilting the chin down ever so slightly can make the eyes pop and show you as sexy and confident.
