How to Make Your Own Shampoo & Other Products
Shampoo contains detergents and sometimes alcohol, and both can damage your hair. One way of battling these chemical is by mixing up a batch of your own shampoo. This is a relatively simple process that only takes a few minutes to complete. One of the main ingredients in homemade shampoo is castile soap, which is an all-natural olive oil soap. Castile soap can be purchased from stores such as the Vitamin Shoppe or GNC. Customize your shampoo with essential oils specifically for your hair type. Does this Spark an idea?

Squeeze the castile soap into the plastic bottle.

Add up to 2 oz. essential oils of your choice in ½ oz. increments. Rosemary will help stimulate hair follicles, nettles provide nutrients for hair growth, chamomile is great for sensitive skin, sage is antibacterial and lavender helps relieve itching from dry or oily scalps. Select the essential oil that will work best for your hair type (see Resources section).

Put the cap on the bottle and shake vigorously to mix together the soap and essential oils.

Tips & Warnings
Make lice shampoo by adding ½ oz. of cinnamon leaf essential oil to the castile soap. Adding juniper berry essential oil will help with hair loss.
Juniper berry essential oil should not be used during pregnancy or if you have kidney problems.
