1. Open an image-editing or image-creating program like Microsoft Paint. Get an idea of the image that you want to create.

2. Create a document that is about 400 pixels by 400 pixels. This will be a large clip-art image.

3. Use shapes in order to create a basic outline of your image. For example, if you're going to draw a football, just draw a large circle. You will be able to edit the circle to create the football shape later. When drawing a cartoon human, you will need to use a circle for the head, a circle for the upper layer of the body, a circle for the lower layer, and elliptical shapes or rectangles for the arms and legs.
