1
Open an image-editing or image-creating program like Microsoft Paint. Get an idea of the image that you want to create.
-
2
Create a document that is about 400 pixels by 400 pixels. This will be a large clip-art image.
-
-
3
Use shapes in order to create a basic outline of your image. For example, if you're going to draw a football, just draw a large circle. You will be able to edit the circle to create the football shape later. When drawing a cartoon human, you will need to use a circle for the head, a circle for the upper layer of the body, a circle for the lower layer, and elliptical shapes or rectangles for the arms and legs.
-
4
Start reshaping the image using the pencil tool, being sure to add detail where it is needed. For a person, you would need to draw the eyes, nose, mouth, and give the body a shape.
-
5
Erase any lines that are no longer needed in order to let the actual shape of the image show.
-
6
Add details to your image using the pencil tool. Details include wrinkles, creases, dots, bumps, sequins, and more.
-
7
Color the image with either a paint tool or a paint bucket tool.
-
8
Add a drop shadow to the image using the circle tool and the color black. This gives the clip art more depth. Put some background images in the picture to make it look more realistic.
-
9
Upload your clip art to an image hosting site. Use the code to paste it to your website or Internet profile. With the right merchant tools, you may also be able to sell your clip art to other companies in need of images.
