There are roughly 3,500 calories in one pound of fat. Thus, if you are able to cut back or work off just 3,500 calories, you will lose an entire pound of pure body fat. To lose a pound of body fat is a significant amount of fat actually because losing water weight is easy but to lose the pure fat is when you really start to notice results. Follow these simple and basic tips to start burning at least a pound of fat.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Motivation
  1. Step 1

Running: Running is one of the best ways to lose pure body fat. To lose a pound of fat you can simply follow this simple exercise tip. Running for roughly 1 hour at even a slow pace will help you lose about 350-375 calories, depending on your body type, metabolism, course, and speed. Thus, if you run for only one hour five days a week while maintaining a relatively consistent diet, you will safely lose one pound of pure body fat.

  2. Step 2

Nutrition Psyche: Many people who just start out running will eat a lot of pasta and other foods high in carbohydrates in order to help compensate for the extra exertion they have been expelling. To lose a pound of body fat you have to overcome this psyche and realize that just because you are working out does not mean you can pig out. You can indulge once or twice a week but not everyday just because you worked out. Maintain a consistent healthy diet and you will lose a pound of pure body fat fairly quickly.

  3. Step 3

Eat In: When you are eating out at a restaurant, not only are you most likely consuming an array of high fat and high calorie foods, but you are also going to be tempting yourself to eat larger portions than you might typically eat. Thus, what could be a simple 500 calories meal can easily turn into a 2000-calorie fat feast. In order to lose weight by cutting your calories, it is important that you are aware of exactly what you are putting into your body. Losing a pound of fat is not easy but if you are disciplined you can watch that pound of pure body fat melt away.

  4. Step 4

Increase Heart Rate Overall: Simple routines or exercises through out the daily can help increase your heart rate which inevitably burns more calories. And, every calorie you burn adds to the calories you burn towards losing that pound of fat. Simple things such as taking the stairs or tapping your foot through out the day can help burn a few more calories than if you took the elevator or were completely stagnant. Think of things that get you moving because every movement is using energy and energy=calories. So, the more energy you use the more calories you are burning and the closer you are to losing that fat.

Tips & Warnings
  • Motivate yourself by looking forward to something at the end of your workout week.
  • Write down what you do and how close you are to your goals.
  • Don't weigh yourself everyday because the body fluctuates naturally too much and may mess with your psyche.
  • Don't get discouraged...keep at it and you will lose a pound of body fat in no time.
