Things You'll Need:
- This is a spare time project.
- Discipline to regularly build your readership.
- Plenty of Bird Dogs
-
Step 1
Opportunities are endless on the various methods you can employ to bring readership to your articles. Writing about a hobby, vocation or life experience you need to find people having similar interests.
You can't sell goods from an empty wagon. Test the waters, find out what people are reading, what other writers are selling and build your personal articles around those things you know that follow the mainstream of public interest. -
Step 2
Making a go of hot topics, writing and spelling out your experiences and talents of "how to" is great. It is the attraction of readers that makes your material worth pay. Once you have written and placed your article broadcast and entice readers to your copy.
Networking takes time and effort, but starting out your best bet for building a following is to expose your work to as many people as possible.
When you network you will find people that hold interests along the lines of your writings. It boils down to building relationships and mutual respect. A person gets to know you, they will recognize your
writings and respond quickly to information you provide about your latest published articles. -
Step 3
New and low cost traffic needs to be cultivated.
You can list your articles on search engines where people can find the topics of interest to them. You will need to learn to drive traffic to your articles. Seek to expand your readership and acquire new readers based on the specific items of interest they are searching the internet.
Next to free listings on search engines you can set up a series of exchanges. -
Step 4
Text and link exchanges fueled by your clicking on other advertisers in exchange for them to carry links and clicks to your ads. A simple 25-30 word line to bring traffic to your writing is the start to a chain of readers.
Your networking will bring readers, text and link exchanges will bring more readers. Now you are set up for using these responders as "Bird Dogs"
Bird Dogs are simply "Pointers" to your work. But instead of using their noses, they are using their mouths. It's called "word of mouth" advertising. Telling others of your wagon full of words and bringing people to you. John reads your material, is impressed and he tells Mary and who knows how many they will tell. -
Step 5
Your readers, your family, your friends need to be reminded to e-mail and talk your articles up. Don't sit back and expect everyone to know what to do, encourage and request the "drive traffic" or tell other people about your writing. The network you have build up needs to be notified when you publish a new piece.
It is important that you spend some time marketing yourself. You will be sending out the message on your work and you will be asking others to do the same. -
Step 6
Building contacts and reaching out for prospective readers will pay big dividends making your writing talents pay in dollars. The whole purpose of your writing is to transfer your ideas and thoughts to others. Writing the greatest story will give you nothing unless you take out the same or more amount of effort to make sure your material is read.
-
Step 7
Making connections, building relationships by electronic means delivers some very unique opportunities to demonstrate your knowledge, expertise as well as "show off" your writings. Building credibility and increasing awareness of your written articles is key to converting readership. As you go along make sure you maintain your reader clients by encouraging and asking for their comments.
Asking for your readers comments records for your future use a list of
people who are familiar with your work. Make certain that you follow up with some brief thank you or response.
