How to Make Gauntlets
Gauntlets fit over the lower parts of the arm. Traditionally, gauntlets were gloves that came up over the wrist to protect the forearms of soldiers during medieval times. Now, bikers and rock musicians commonly wear gauntlets, mainly only on the forearm. Make the wrist part of the gauntlet, and wear matching colored gloves underneath to complete the gauntlet look. Make gauntlets to dress like your favorite movie character or a medieval warrior.

Cut a piece of vinyl that measures 10 inches by 12 inches. Cut a portion off each of the 10-inch sides. Start in the middle and taper down to cutting off 1 inch so the gauntlet will fit tightly around the wrist.

Apply the hook side of Velcro to the right side of the vinyl along one of the 12-inch sides. Apply the loop side of the Velcro to the wrong side of the vinyl along the other 12-inch side.

Tips & Warnings
To make a more fitted gauntlet, or a smaller gauntlet for your child, measure their arm from elbow to wrist. Also measure around the arm just below the elbow and around the wrist. Cut out a piece of vinyl to those measurements. To make more sturdy gauntlets, use leather. Follow the preceding directions the same way. Use other materials to make your gauntlets. You can use cardboard or plastic as well.
