A tiger muskie, also known as a tiger musky, tiger muske or tiger muskellunge, is a hybrid species that is a cross between a pike and a muskie (muskellunge). The tiger muskie species is often stocked by state game commissions to provide anglers more muskellunge fishing as they are often sought in bodies of water where native muskellunge numbers are low. Tiger muskies are one of the largest freshwater fish. Fortunately, with the right muskie fishing bait, tackle and artificial lures you can catch one of these majestic beasts with river fishing or lake angling.

Research your local rivers and lakes for prime tiger muskie fishing. Start by checking out your state's game commission website to find if lakes or rivers near you are stocked. These sites will also give information on muskellunge populations for the bodies of waters near you in your state.

Purchase the right muskie fishing equipment. Muskie fishing lures come in a wide variety of styles and shapes. Purchase a variety of fishing lures that are adequate for different water depths. You can also add sinkers to your tiger muskie lures to allow them to travel in deeper waters when fishing. Choose the best colors of muskie fishing lures for sky conditions and water transparency. Black muskie lures are generally the most popular. Tips & Warnings
Be careful netting a tiger muskie. Net the fish head first to prevent damage to the tail. It could split the tail otherwise.
When muskie fishing, be careful with removing hooks as muskellunge species have very sharp teeth that can cut you.
