Things You'll Need:
- Floor jack
- Jack stands
- Honda ball joint remover and installer kit
- Large vise
- ½-inch drive ratchet
- Set of ½-inch drive sockets
- Wire cutters
- Snap ring pliers
- Set of wrenches
- Lug wrench
- Ball joint separator tool
- Hammer

Step 1
Raise and support the car on jack stands. Remove the wheels using the lug wrench. Remove the two bolts from the brake caliper and remove the caliper. Pull the rotor off the hub.

Step 2
Remove cotter pin from the stud in the tie-rod end using the wire cutters. Remove the nut on the tie rod using a wrench. Extract the tie-rod end from the hub using the ball joint separator tool and the hammer.

Step 3
Remove the pinch bolt holding the strut to the spindle using the ½-inch-drive ratchet and socket. Remove the cotter pin from the lower ball joint using the wire cutters. Remove the nut from the lower ball joint using a wrench.

Step 4
Separate the lower ball joint from the spindle using the ball joint separator tool and a hammer. Remove the two bolts holding the sway bar to the lower control arm using the ½-inch-drive ratchet and socket.

Step 5
Remove the hub from the strut by tapping it downward with the hammer, driving the hub from the strut. Lift the hub up to remove the lower ball joint from the lower control arm. Move the hub to the large vise. Use the ball joint remover and installer kit to remove the ball joint from the hub.

Step 6
Remove the snap ring from the ball joint using the snap ring pliers. Slide the ball-joint-remover pipes over and under the ball joint, then use the vise to squeeze the ball joint out of the hub. Reverse the pipes and press the new ball joint into the hub. Install the snap ring on the ball joint. Replace all parts in reverse order of removal.
