How to Snell a Fishing Hook

A snell knot is one of many knots you can use to secure your fishing hook to your fishing line. A snell knot is one of the strongest fishing knots, so it should particularly be used when catching large fish that have the strength to pull off your bait or hook. Anyone can tie a snell knot, and it should take less than 1 minute to tie.

Things You'll Need

• Fishing line
• Fishing hook

Instructions

1. Put the end of the fishing line through the eye of the fishing hook, and pull the line through about 1/2 inch.

2. Hold the 1/2-inch tab on the hook. Wrap the line around the hook and tab seven times.

3. Insert the loose end of the line through the eye of the hook from the back of the hook.

4. Dip the hook in water to lubricate the line. Pull the line to tighten the knot.
