How to Troubleshoot a Quincy 325 Compressor

The Quincy 325 air compressor is a rotary compressor capable of creating pressure of up to 325 horsepower. Air compressors can be used for a variety of household and utility purposes, but can sometimes malfunction. Learn how to troubleshoot the various parts of the Quincy 325 to quickly get it back to working order.

  • Verify that the Quincy 325 is plugged into a direct power source and not an extension cable if you find that it is behaving strangely or powering down unexpectedly. A poor or unreliable power source may prevent its magnetic starter from working properly.

  • Check the relief valves on the side of the Quincy 325 if you find pressure building up to dangerous levels. The relief valves are designed to release excess air pressure but may have become clogged or blocked with debris, especially if the appliance is being used on a construction site or similarly dirty environment.

  • Inspect the end of the compressor if you find the appliance is malfunctioning and not working with compatible adapters and tools. Lightly press the Quincy 325's starter button and let the motor spin three times. Note the way it is spinning. A correctly positioned rotor will spin clockwise. Reverse the compressor's electrical leads if you notice the rotor spinning counterclockwise.
