How to Remove 0x80004005

Microsoft has designed unique error codes for specific issues with its operating systems. These codes are designed to alert the user of an issue and to make resolving the issue easy. 0x80004005 is one such error code that is related to Windows Defender being unable to remove a piece of adware or spyware because it also resides within System Restore. Luckily, removing this error is as simple as disabling System Restore.

Instructions

      Click the green "Start" button on the bottom left of your screen. Move your mouse over to the "My Computer" icon.

      Right-click the "My Computer" icon and select "Properties".

      Click the "System Restore" tab.

      Click the "Turn Off System Restore on All Drives" box. Then click "OK".

      Click "Yes" to confirm that you want to turn off System Restore on all your PC's drives. Click "OK" to exit the box.

      Reboot your computer by going to "Start > Shutdown > Restart".

      Right-click the "My Computer" icon located within the "Start" menu and select "Properties". Click the "System Restore" tab.

      Un-check the "Turn System Restore Off" box. Then click "Apply" and "OK". The 0x80004005 error has now been removed from your computer and System Restore has been re-enabled.
