How to Remove a Headlamp Relay

Headlamps provide frontal lighting for our vehicles while we drive. Headlamps are especially useful during night driving and rainy weather. Headlamps are powered by a relay rather than a fuse; a faulty relay could keep your headlamp from working correctly.

1. Turn your engine off and pop your hood.

2. Locate the the engine bay fuse box in your vehicle. Front-wheel drive vehicles will usually have the fuse box mounted on the driver's side; rear-wheel drive vehicles will usually have it mounted on the passenger's side. Remove the fuse box cover panel.

3. Look at the diagram to determine the location of the headlamp relay. Most vehicles have separate relays for the high-beam and low-beam, so you will need to determine which one you want to remove.

4. Pull up on the relay to remove it from the fuse box. Installation is the reverse of removal.
