1. Look to bundle cable, internet, and phone. If you are currently paying for these services separately, you are throwing your money away. Both you phone carrier and cable provider can likely provide you all three of these services for less money. Review their offers and go with the cheapest one.

2. Negotiate a lower rate. If you bundle your services as mentioned above, you will probably receive an introductory rate that is reduced for the first 12 months. After those twelve months are up, call the provider back and request the current offer being made to new customers. If they decline, threaten to cancel your services to go with their competitor.

3. Go with a new provider of services if your current one refuses to provide you the rate for new customers.

Tips & Warnings

• Don't be afraid to switch providers. If you switch your phone service provider, you will be able to keep your old telephone number.

• Don't use the e-mail account provided to you by the internet provider. This will make it difficult to change providers. Instead, obtain and use an e-mail account from someone like google or yahoo. (there are many other good ones)
