Things You'll Need:
- Driver's license
- Credit card
- Insurance policy
-
Step 1
Find a reliable company such as Enterprise (see Resources) from which to rent your truck. Another company that rents work trucks is Ryder.
-
Step 2
Find out what you need to provide in order to rent a truck from the company. You need a driver's license, but depending on the size of the truck, you might need a chauffeur's license or a commercial driver's license. Rental truck agencies generally require a credit card for payment, although some might accept cash. Some companies will set you up on a billing plan if you rent often with them, so inquire about that.
-
Step 3
Check on how the company handles insurance. Your present automobile policy might not include rental work trucks. Contact your insurance company first to find out if the rental work truck will be covered and for how much on that policy. Ask the rental company about the insurance policy they provide for their vehicles.
-
Step 4
Ask the rental company about the types of vehicles it has available and the nearest location that has the vehicle you need. Make sure they will have that vehicle available on the day you need to rent it.
-
Step 5
Book your work truck rental over the phone with the representative. Most often, to book you will have to give your credit card number, expiration date and security code to the clerk, but they won't bill you until the day of rental.
-
Step 6
Show up at the rental company on the date, and pick up your rental work truck.
