How to Prevent Moth Damage to a Cashmere Coat

A cashmere coat is a luxurious way to stay warm during the winter, but what should you do with the coat in the summer when moths are active? Instead of smelling up your home with moth balls, or sticking the coat into a cedar-lined chest, you can try a simple method of protecting your fine cashmere items.

Things You'll Need

• Zippered canvas storage bag

Instructions

1. Have your cashmere coat professionally dry cleaned before storage.

2. Be certain your coat is perfectly clean, dry and stain free.

3. Carefully fold your coat so it will not wrinkle.

4. Lay your coat flat in the canvas bag and zip the bag closed. Store in an area that is not exposed to bright light or temperature and humidity fluctuations.

Tips & Warnings

• Do not store cashmere in an airtight plastic bag. The cashmere needs to "breathe."
