How to Figure Out Your IP Address


Your IP (Internet Protocol) address is assigned by your Internet service provider to distinguish your computer from other computers. If you use a router, your router assigns an internal IP address, which is different than the public IP address that your service provider assigns your computer. You can determine your public IP address by navigating to websites that detect your public IP address. You can determine your private IP address through the Command Prompt.

  • Navigate to a website to determine your external IP address. To do so, navigate to sites like, or
