The perm is a popular style among senior citizens.

A perm is a hairstyle that utilizes rolling tools to curl your hair. Though the style isn't difficult to accomplish, it does take a considerable amount of time. The process can damage your hair because of the multiple chemicals that are used to create the wavy look. In addition to the chemicals, a hair rod is used. Carefully apply and remove the hair rods so you don't pull and damage your hair. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Section out a rectangle area of hair, making it the same size as the perm tool. Do this by parting it from the rest of your hair.

    • 2

Hold the sectioned hair at a 90-degree angle from the head. Grip the hair at the scalp with two end papers. Squeeze the papers over the hair and pull down to the tip.

    • 3

Place the tip of the hair on the top of the rod. Wrap the hair around the rod until you get to the scalp.

    • 4

Place the tool fastener, which is attached to the rod, over the hair to keep it in place. Apply perm solution to the top of the hair on each rod. Allow the solution to sit in the hair for about 20 minutes.

    • 5

Unroll the rod slowly. Rinse your hair with warm water for at least three minutes. Apply neutralizer on the hair as you would shampoo.

Tips & Warnings

  • Follow manufacturer's instructions carefully to avoid damaging your hair and scalp.

  • Seek medical attention if you have an allergic reaction.
