How to Find Your Computer's IP Address

Any computer connected to a network is assigned an IP address, which is a number that identifies that computer on the network. Your computer is assigned an IP address regardless of the network type you use, whether it's a wired or wireless (Wi-Fi) connection. It is important that you know your IP address if you have issues with your Internet connection and need to contact technical support.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Start menu, then click "Control Panel."

    • 2

Click the "View network status and tasks" link under the "Network and Internet" section.

    • 3

Click the "Change adapter settings" link on the left side of the window.

    • 4

    • 5

Click the "Details..." button. Your IP address is listed after the "IPv4 Address" label.
