HID lights provide more light than halogen headlights.

High-intensity discharge lights use an electrical arc to provide greater luminescence using the same amount of power as traditional halogen headlight bulbs. Because of this, many drivers choose to install an HID headlight bulb conversion kit in their vehicles. The kits are easy to install and provide greater visibility at night and during inclement weather. You can install a basic HID conversion kit in about 30 minutes without any tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the hood of your car and allow the engine to cool completely.

    • 2

Squeeze the release tab on the headlight connector and pull it off the back of the headlight bulb. Turn the bulb one-quarter turn counterclockwise and pull it straight out of the back of the headlight housing. Repeat this process on the other headlight.

    • 3

Insert the included HID bulb into the back of the headlight housing and turn it one-quarter turn clockwise to lock it in place. Install the other HID headlight bulb in the same way. Be careful not to touch the bulb with your fingers; oils from your skin can damage the bulb and reduce its service life.

    • 4

Mount the ballasts inside the engine compartment using the included double-sided tape. Choose a mounting location near each headlight housing. Place strips of double-sided tape on the backs of the ballasts and stick them to the fender wells or other smooth surface. Make sure the ballasts are close enough to the headlight housing for the wiring harnesses to reach.

    • 5

Connect the wiring harnesses from the backs of the bulbs to the wiring harnesses from the ballasts. The wires have alternating male and female connectors, so there is no way to connect them incorrectly.

    • 6

Connect one end of the included plug-and-play wires to the ballasts. Attach the other ends to the connectors that were connected to the factory headlight bulbs. Push all connectors tightly together to make sure they don’t work loose.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep headlight lenses clean to help prevent refraction that can cause excessive glare for oncoming drivers. Refer to your owner’s manual for instructions on removing your headlight bulbs.

  • After installing the HID conversion kit, the headlights need to be aimed to ensure they don’t blind oncoming drivers.

  • Consult your owner’s manual before installing aftermarket headlights to make sure they won’t interfere with normal vehicle operation.
