Things You'll Need:
- Digi 001
- 1/4-inch audio cables
- Speaker wire
- Power amp and passive monitors or active monitors
-
Step 1
On the back of the Digi 001, there are five pairs of 1/4-inch output jacks. The last pair looking from right to left are the jacks for the monitors. They are labeled MON OUT L for the top jack and MON OUT R for the bottom jack. Plug a 1/4-inch cable into each of these jacks.
-
Step 2
If the monitors are active, meaning they produce their own power, skip this step. If the monitors are passive, it means they need to be powered by a separate power amplifier. Connect the 1/4-inch cables from the back of the Digi 001 to the amplifier.
-
Step 3
The type of cable used to connect the amp or Digi 001 to the monitors depends on what type of connectors are on the back of the monitor. These are typically either 1/4-inch jacks or speaker wire connectors. If monitors are active and have 1/4-inch jacks on the back, simply plug the 1/4-inch cables into the monitors. If the monitors instead have speaker wire connectors, it will be necessary to get a cable that has a 1/4-inch cable on one end and speaker wires on the other. Connect the 1/4-inch cables into the Digi 001 and the speaker wires into the monitors.
If the speakers are passive, connect the speaker wires to the amp, then connect the other end (either 1/4" connectors or speaker wire) into the monitor.
The monitors should now work with the Digi 001. The volume of the monitors can be controlled from the Digi 001 using the monitor volume knob on the front of the interface. -
Step 4
In order to test to see if the monitors work, connect an instrument or a mic to the Digi 001 and test to see if the sound comes out. Alternatively, play music or a recording from Pro Tools LE. If Pro Tools LE has not been installed previously, insert the CD and run the install. In order to connect the Digi 001 to the computer, the PCI card must also be installed.
-
Step 5
To install the PCI card, turn off and unplug the computer. Remove the side panel and insert the PCI card into an empty slot. This may require removing the metal place holder for that slot on the case. Screw the card into place. Close the computer and start it back up. Use the breakout cable included with the Digi 001 to connect to the computer.
