How to Straighten Guys' Hair

A guy with naturally curly or wavy hair may wish to straighten his hair from time to time. If a guy has a "punk" hairstyle, a straightener can be used to accentuate the shape of his haircut. The methods used to straighten guys' hair are slightly different than those used to straighten women's hair. It is important to use the correct products as well as the right method so that you do not damage the guy's hair when straightening it.

Things You'll Need:

• 3/4 inch hair straightener
• Hair texturizing spray

1. Turn the hair straightener on to medium heat. Medium heat is generally the best to work with for men's hair. Since men's hair is typically short, you should not turn your straightener to high.

2. Determine whether you would like to straighten the hair flat or spiky.

3. Mist the hair texturizing spray throughout the hair. Whether your are styling the hair flat or spiky, this styling spray will work well to give the hair weightless definition.

4. Clip the iron on half-inch sections of the hair near the root and quickly pull it down to the ends. If you are styling the hair flat, you should pull the hair downward along the shape of your head. If you are styling the hair spiky, you will need to pull the iron outward.

5. Continue to use the straightener around the head. It is not necessary to do this systematically in specific sections. By styling the hair in front of a mirror, you will be able to observe how the hair is laying and where you need to continue to straighten.
