How to Install Pioneer CD Players

The installation of aftermarket stereo equipment depends largely on the vehicle being upgraded. In the case of Pioneer CD Players, there are specific considerations that need to be observed to ensure a smooth and successful installation.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect the grounding wire of your vehicles battery. The grounding wire is the (usually) black wire that connects your battery to the frame of your vehicle.

    • 2

Remove the CD player or stereo from the vehicle.

    • 3

Attach the wiring to the back of the new Pioneer CD Player. You can opt for a wiring harness kit or connect the wires separately. To connect separately, first connect the positive, then the negative wires to the CD player.

    • 4

Connect the grounding wire from the vehicle to the CD player. Connect the antenna wiring to the unit as well.

    • 5

Place the CD player in the slot provided for stereo placement and secure the CD player using the vehicles in-dash mounting molding. Some vehicles will require that the housing frame be secured through the glove compartment or through an access panel on the side of the steering column.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure that the Pioneer CD player you have selected fits into your vehicle. If it does not, you will need to purchase a mounting sleeve unit to fit the CD player in the available space.
