For many people getting pregnant is very difficult and for others it takes no time at all. Determining an ovulation schedule for conception is a key factor for getting pregnant.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

One way is by counting the days to predict when you are ovulating. Ovulation is when an egg is released and it travels through the fallopian tubes into the uterus. The first few days before ovulation is when women are most fertile, so to find out when you are ovulating is very important.

  2. Step 2
    Ovulation Calendar

Start by counting...To figure out when you are ovulating, keep track of your menstrual cycle for three to six months. You calculate the length from the first day of your menstrual cycle to the next day it begins. Following for six months will give you a better result. Once you've found out the number of days add eighteen to it and then add the difference to the first day of your next period - this should give you an ideal of when you are fertile.

  3. Step 3
    Cervical Mucus Method

Another method of determining ovulation is through your cervical mucus. When you are menstruating around the middle of your cycle the mucus will have a thick creamy texture. When you start ovulating it will be white, clear and runny.

  4. Step 4
    Abdominal Pain and Cramping

When your ovary releases and egg, some women have pain and cramps on the side of their abdomen. The time frame varies from minutes to hours. This is another indication that your are ovulating. This method is called mittelschmerz.

  5. Step 5
    Basal Body Thermometer

    Basal Body Thermometer

Taking your temperature with a basal body temperature preferably in the mornings is another method. The basal body thermometer range for ovulation is 0.4 to 0.8 degrees Fahrenheit.

Tips & Warnings
  • Have patience, don't get stressed out-this could make if harder for you to get pregnant.
  • Always consult your physician for expert advice.
