How to Put Clock Kits on Items

Put clock kits on items to decorate your own home or to give away as a gift. The most common item to add a clock kit to is a wood plaque. You can stain the plaque or add pictures to the plaque before you add the clock. The following steps will show you how to add a clock to a decorative wood plaque with a tropical picture. After you have finished one, you will want to make others for family and friends as gifts.

Things You'll Need

• Wood plaque
• Clock kit
• Drill and required drill bit in the correct size
• Adjustable wrench
• Tape Measure

Instructions

1. Use the tape measure to find the center of the plaque. Measure from top to bottom and left to right. Make a mark with a pencil.

2. Use the drill and correct size drill bit to make the center hole. Each clock kit will be different, and the size of the hole can be different.

3. 

   Place the clock mechanism on the back side of the plaque and insert the extended arm through the hole to the front side of the plaque. Place the washer on the arm and wind on the long nut. Use a wrench to make sure that it is tight.

4. Attach the big and little hands to the arm. They just snap on after you have the nut on and tightened.

5. 

   Use a pencil to make the marks where the numbers will go. You may need to look at another manufactured clock to get an idea where the numbers should go. Apply the supplied glue to the back of each number and place it on the plaque. Allow the glue to dry before inserting a battery into the clock mechanism on the back side.
