Being certified to perform CPR in the event of an emergency is essential for health- care providers such as nurses and EMTs. Even if you are not a health-care provider, CPR certification makes you a valuable asset when an emergency situation arises. If your CPR certification is going to expire, you can now renew your card online through various certification resources.

  1. Step 1

If you are a health professional, make sure your job accepts recertification from this type of online course before your commit to it. Online recertification does not require any type of physical demonstration, so if your employer requires you to retest your physical capabilities, consider taking an offline course instead.

  2. Step 2

Visit online CPR certification sites such as Pro CPR or the International CPR Institute and read through the details.

  3. Step 3

Sign up for an account on the site of your choice and click on the option to renew your CPR certification.

  4. Step 4

Spend time refreshing your knowledge of the materials needed to pass the recertification course. Use online resources such as videos and tutorials to study.

  5. Step 5

Set aside approximately an hour to take the renewal test. Take your time while testing and answer the questions to the best of your ability.

  6. Step 6

Print out your certification and temporary wallet card after passing the test and show it to your employer. You should receive your permanent wallet card within 7 to 10 days, depending on the site.
