How to Make a Fake Website

A fake website can be created for just about anything. It can be made for a product that does not exist or for fake characters who are pretending to be real. Whatever the reason behind creating a fake website, the website will still need to be created to let people view or stumble across the fake content. Just like a "real" website, you will need to have a domain name as well as design the site.

Instructions

1. Decide what the fake content will be before you proceed. Do you want the content to be about a fake object, fake person or perhaps fake information about a real person? These are all important questions to answer.

2. Purchase a domain name. This can be done from several sites. Purchase it through a site like GoDaddy.com, which specializes in selling domain names (see link in Resources). If you do not have any software to design the pages, go through a site like Webs.com, which not only lets you purchase the domain but also has tools for creating a website, designing its pages and uploading content (see link in Resources).

3. Design the website. Upload images and video to add excitement to the website. These will make it more interesting, and if there are images and videos of this fake content, it will make it more realistic.

4. Publish the website. When using an at-home software for creating the web page, it will have a feature to allow you to connect the URL of your domain name and then "Publish" the material. When using Webs.com or something similar, in the design section of the site, you will be able to click "Publish" at any time, which will send your "fake" content to the Internet and viewable to anyone in the world.
