Step 1
Upfront Payments from Helium.com
Starting in November 2008, Helium.com began offering upfront payments for articles submitted. To qualify for upfront payments you must:
1. Have your articles ranked in the top 25% overall. Your rank appears on your My Helium page. To ensure your articles are ranked in the top 25% you must consistently submit quality articles.
2. Have at least one rating star. To get this you must rate 10 other articles each 30 day period and your rating must also be in the top 25% overall. Many new writers think that the more you rate the more rating stars you will earn. You have to take your time and give quality ratings! Helium.com will ask you to compare the same articles against each other, or compare articles you have previously rated to ensure your ratings are consistent. Your rating percentage also appears on your My Helium page. -
Step 2
Passive Income
Helium.com offers passive income on previously written articles. Each time an internet user views your article and clicks the advertisements, you the writer earn a percentage of the ad revenue.
To earn passive income, Helium.com requires that you maintain 1 rating star. As explained in the previous step, rating stars are earned by rating the articles of other writers. To maintain 1 rating star you must rate 10 articles every 30 days and have a rating percentage in the top 25% of all raters. Passive income averages only 10 cents per article monthly for most writers.
Popular articles will earn well. Also, writers with the best rankings earn the most passive income. -
Step 3
Helium Marketplace
The Helium Marketplace is where publishers go to find content. You can earn a lot of money writing requested articles in the Helium Marketplace. You will be given a requested article title and a minimum article length. An average requested article will be about 600 words. It is not unusual for articles to pay $50 - $80 each, which is why this is my favorite way to earn money on Helium.com. To write for the Helium Marketplace a writer must be "Marketplace Approved," or a "Marketplace Premier Writer."
To qualify as Helium Marketplace Approved, you must maintain 1 writing star. Writing stars are different from rating stars. A writing star is achieved by having 4-29 articles published on Helium that rank in the top 25%.
To qualify as a Helium Premier Marketplace Writer, you must have 3 writing stars. To get three writing stars you must have 100 to 299 articles published on Helium.com that rank in the top 25%. -
Step 4
As you can see, it isn't easy to get started with Helium. Helium's payment structure reserves earnings for their top writers. However, if you are confident in your writing skills, you should try Helium.com. If you rank within the top 25% of Helium's writers, their is a lot of money to be earned.
