Things You'll Need:
- Computer
- Internet
- very little if any knowledge of html or images
-
Step 1
Blank starting pointDirect your browser to www.weebly.com. Sign up for an account where it says Create a free website, Fast, Free, Easy, Now. After signing up and signing in, take a few minutes to look around and see all the features they offer. You might be surprised at the amount of elements there, for a free site, it is unbelievable.
-
Step 2
Starting with the Header image is probably the best step to start with.Click in the area at the top of your blank page where the header/banner will be. This will drop down a small set of buttons: upload, banner size (this tells you what size to make your banner)and remove image. If you dont have a graphics program such as Paint Shop Pro, or Photoshop, there are sites on the web that will let you create banners big or small. Create your banner/header with paint or web program then click in the area at the top of your blank page. Click upload, it only takes a few seconds, depending on the file size. Voila! Now you have a header for your new website!
-
Step 3
Imagine the layout of your new site and add content to the home page, and any other pages you create.. The banner you uploaded will be at the top of every page you add. Adding the content to the page is where it gets interesting because at Weebly you can drag and drop almost all the elements that make up your new website.
-
Step 4
Choose the design of your website and make it unique, there are several different designs to choose from. Add more pages as needed to build the website that everyone will want to visit. Adding links to outside pages, your pages, files for download, or email addresses has never been easier.
-
Step 5
The settings , important for search enginesChoosing your content, layout, text (size, color, alignment),videos, and images should be through by now. So one of the important steps takes place now, Settings! Choose and apply your settings carefully as this is some of the ways that search engines locate your website. Address and site title should be similar in some ways. You can opt for for a registered domain name, or stay with the free name you choose. You can change to a domain in the future if you choose to.
-
Step 6
General Settings: address, site title, 3 options for Weebly Pro
Search Engine Optimization: Site Description, Keywords, Footer Code
Google Verification: this is for adsense so google can get in on it
Ecommerce Settings: Merchant Account, and Currency for selling items
Archive/Un-publish: Archive downloads your website in .zip format
I Think we all know what this button does.. stay away from this one! -
Step 7
Feeling satisfied with all of your content on your new website? Only one thing left to do. PUBLISH your new website for all the world to see. Inspect your newly published website and locate any small problems or mistakes. Fix any mistakes as soon as you can. If you choose to have a blog page on your website, adding new entries every so often updates your site and keeps it fresh in the eyes of GOOGLEBOT! Have fun with your new website and good luck.
