How to Have Good Luck in Life

How to Have Good Luck in Life thumbnail
It is possible to improve your luck by changing your attitude.

Most people think luck is an ethereal force, and while, by definition, luck is seemingly beyond our control, there are still things you can do to improve your chances of having random positive experiences. Avoiding mention of stereotypical supernatural talismans and charms like clovers and rabbits' feet, and instead focusing on perception and behavior, improving your luck is simply a matter of changing the way you look at the world, your attitude toward new things and how you approach different situations.

Instructions

    • 1

Stop expecting bad luck. If you want to increase the amount of good luck in your life, you must first break the habit of always looking for the negative aspects of a situation. Force yourself to ignore the downside and instead pay attention to only the positive aspects. If you stop looking for bad things and start looking for good things, your mind will be focused in the right direction.

    • 2

Surround yourself with positive people. Whether you realize it or not, the attitude and personality of the people around you directly influences your perception of the world. Evaluate the people you're near most often. If those people constantly complain about being unlucky, unhappy, or unsuccessful, then you must stop associating with them. By surrounding yourself with happy, uplifting people, you will unconsciously be affected by their outlook on life and you will start to view your personal experiences in a positive light.

    • 3

Take a chance. Without risk there is no reward. When you find yourself faced with a decision that could potentially change your life for the better, seriously consider the possible outcome of each choice, with particular emphasis on the consequences of doing nothing. If you believe your life is unlucky, you must take steps to change your luck. Those steps involve doing things you have not done before. Do not expect your luck to change if you do not embrace new experiences.

    • 4

Maximize your capabilities. Brutally examine yourself and make a note of what you are good at. Find a way to use your natural skills and abilities to their fullest potential. Do not focus on the things you don't have or the things you can't do. If you pay attention to what you've already got and start searching for ways to capitalize on those skills, your luck will improve.

    • 5

Believe in karma. Do not misconstrue this as a religious or spiritual issue, but rather one of inner peace and self-respect. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Practice random acts of kindness and start helping others when you're in a position to contribute. By behaving generously, your luck will improve simply because you will find yourself in positions where others will notice and commend your kindness.

Tips & Warnings

  • Having good luck simply requires changing your focus from the negative aspects of life to the positive ones, and increasing the likelihood that you will be exposed to better environments.
