How to Buy HP Laptop Replacement Parts
Basic HP Laptop maintenance is relatively simple. HP Laptops have a convenient pre-installed "Total Care Advisor" program to help with automatic software updates and vital computer information; unfortunately, this automatic support stops short of helping you with advanced problems such as hardware malfunction. If your laptop has a broken component in need of replacement, you'll have to order a replacement part. Luckily, HP has provided a useful online database to help streamline the process, making it easier to replace your hardware if you follow the right steps.

1
Look for the model number of your HP laptop. This number is located on the bottom of your laptop on a sticker with the HP logo; there will also be a sticker with a Windows logo that you can disregard.
-
2
Go to the Hewlett Packard Parts Store (see Resources) for online ordering. If your laptop is so badly damaged that you are unable to get online, you can also call 1-800-227-8164 to order parts via telephone. According to the Hewlett Packard Parts Store, the call center is open Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 7:00pm, Central Standard Time.

3
Type the model number into the "Search by Model Number" blank on your screen, or simply read the number to the operator if you are ordering parts by telephone.
-
4
Click on the part you need from the listing of parts displayed on your screen. If you're ordering via telephone, simply explain your parts needs to the customer service representative.
-
5
Insert your credit card number by following the on screen directions or providing the call center associate with the requested information. As you place your order via online or telephone checkout, you will be told how long shipping will take. Shipping varies based on the type of part you need. After completing the transaction, your part should arrive in the mail after the specified shipping period.

Tips & Warnings
Unfortunately, the Hewlett Packard Parts Store indicates "not all replacement parts are available to order" online or via telephone. If you need a rare part that is not readily available through the online or telephone ordering service, you must contact an HP Authorized Part Partner for special ordering (see Resources).
