How to Hard Reboot a 4250HDC

The Scientific Atlantic 4250HDC is a High Definition Digital Video Recorder (HD DVR) box. Occasionally, the HD DVR will need a hard reboot to re-register services from the cable/satellite company. A hard reboot will reset the machine to its original settings, reacquire the signal, and download any firmware or software updates from the cable/satellite company's server.

Instructions

1. Turn off the DVR by pressing the "On/Off" switch on the front of the box or on the remote control.

2. Unplug the black DVR power cord from the back of the DVR box.

3. Wait three to five minutes to allow the DVR box microchip to completely reset itself.

4. Plug the power cord back into the DVR box.

5. Allow the DVR box to completely power on until the time of day shows on the LED display. This may take from five to seven minutes. The HD DVR has now been through a hard reboot cycle.
