Make a Bleach Costume

Ichigo Kurosaki is the central character of the Bleach series of manga and anime. Ichigo is a freshman in high school that becomes the substitute Soul Reaver after absorbing most of the powers of Rukia. A cynical character, he was initially quite unhappy with the arrangement. The costume for Ichigo is a rather easy endeavor with only a minor amount of sewing.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Black robe
    • Black hakama pants (or a black, ankle length pleated skirt)
    • White shirt
    • White cotton fabric
    • White thread
    • Needle
    • White socks
    • Sandals
    • Plastic or metal chain
    • Red spray paint
    • Orange hair dye
    • Gel
    • Spiky, orange wig
      • 1

Cut a four-inch strip of white fabric about nine feet long. Cut strips of one-inch-wide fabric long enough to go around the edge of each sleeve and the collar of the robe.

      • 2

Sew the one-inch strips of fabric to the opening edges of the sleeves and collar of the robe.

      • 3

Wrap the chain in a loop from one shoulder to the opposite hip and connect the links. Spray paint it red. Be sure to get both sides; the color should be solid throughout.

      • 4

Dye your hair bright orange and spike using gel. Alternatively, you can also wear an orange wing, as well.

      • 5

Put on the white shirt and tuck it into the skirt or hakama pants.

      • 6

Put on the white socks and sandals.

      • 7

Put on the robe. Drape the chain from one shoulder to the opposite hip. Tie the four-inch white fabric strip around your waist like a shoe lace.

    Tips & Warnings

    • The proper costume should have hakama pants. Outside Japan, these can be hard to find. The robe covers them enough that a pleated skirt looks about the same. A painted bokken can be substituted for the sword cheaply if you wish to carry a weapon with the costume.
