How to Convert MP3 to CDA in Linux

CDA is the audio format used in music CDs. With the use of Serpentine, an open-source CD creator, you can easily convert your MP3s (or other music files, for that matter) to CDA format and burn them to a CD.

Instructions

    • 1

Install the Serpentine audio CD creator. You can probably find it in your Linux distribution's repositories, making for easy installation. If not, download the sources here: http://irrepupavel.com/projects/serpentine/download/. Follow the directions at http://irrepupavel.com/projects/serpentine/usage/ to compile a disc.

    • 2

Open Serpentine. This can be done by either finding it in your menu (likely under "Sound & Video") and clicking on it, or running "serpentine" in a shell terminal.

    • 3

Click the 'Add' button on the toolbar. Locate and choose your MP3 files, and click "Open." Repeat until all the files you wish to burn to CD are in the list.

    • 4

Click "Write to Disc." Serpentine will convert the files to CDA format and then burn them to the CD.
