Combination skin is tricky to care for because the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) is generally oilier and suffers from blackheads and blemishes, while the other areas (mainly cheeks) lose moisture easily and can become dry and tight. In addition to cleansing combination skin, apply a richer moisturizer to dry areas and an oil-free moisturizer to oily areas.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Honey is great for combination skin because it contains potassium, a natural antibacterial agent to prevent and heal breakouts. It is also a natural emollient to moisturize dry areas. Combine 1/4 cup of honey with 1/2 cup of mild liquid soap and 1/2 cup of water. Stir gently in a clean pump container to avoid foaming.

  2. Step 2

Massage gently into damp skin and rinse with lukewarm water. Use this honey cleanser twice a day to keep combination skin clear and hydrated.

  3. Step 3

To further clear oilier areas in the T-zone, mix 1 teaspoon of lemon juice with 1 teaspoon of sugar. Lemon juice is a natural antibacterial agent and contains skin-clearing Vitamin C, while sugar contains glycolic acid to remove blackheads and promote smooth skin.

  4. Step 4

Massage sugar and lemon juice scrub into the T-zone in circular motions. Use this every other day after cleansing to keep the skin free from blackheads and impurities.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use the honey cleanser as a body wash to keep skin clear and smooth.
  • Avoid contact with eyes. Cut back to weekly use if the lemon and sugar scrub causes irritation.
