How To Check My Internet History

Whether you aware of it, your Internet history is always tracked. Therefore, if you are concerned that someone you know is looking at web material that is not appropriate, it would be helpful to know how to check the Internet history. All web browsers record Internet history. Whether you are using Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari, you will be able to view your history and the history of other users that have access to your computer.

Instructions

      With a browser window open, press and hold the Ctrl and H buttons together. This will bring up a side window that will show your Internet browsing history.

      Choose the time period of your history that you want to view. Options include history that is viewed today to history that is older than six days.

      Click on the time period. The websites and links that you have viewed will now show on the side window.

      Type in keywords and names of sites that you visited into the search bar to bring up a specific website that you are looking for. Click the "View" button next to the search bar to sort your history by date, site, last visited or most visited.

      Click the "X" icon to exit out of the history window.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are using Mozilla Firefox, the oldest history option will say "Older Than Six Days." If you are using Internet Explorer, it will say "Two Weeks Ago."
