Starting your first campaign. When you begin google adwords you will be prompted to enter an Ad title, and Ad group. An Adtitle is the larger, usually bold title people will see when your site comes up on search engines. The Adgroup is the text underneath the Adtitle. It is extremely important how you approach this as it will directly affect how much traffic your site will see, and how much it will cost per click.

To illustrate, consider the following example: lets say you started an advertisement about searching for people on the internet. The ad title should read something to the effect of "Instant People Search". You would want to use something more original, I am only using this title for an example. Your Ad Group should then say something like "Want an easy people search? Join NOW and get started!"

Notice how I used "people search" in the Adtitle and in the Adgroup. This is a MUST! It lowers the cost per click because google gives quality points for having relavent links to websites. In short, just remember to have keywords from your title in your adgroup as well!

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use too broad of keywords or you will never get any quality hits to your web page. You need to be somewhat original to generate a steady flow of traffic to your site!
