This article will teach you how to regrow your eyebrows after years of over plucking. The tips are good for all eyebrows even if your problem is simply curly eyebrows or salt and pepper color eyebrows. Try the techniques for great eye catching eyebrows. By Cheryl Scott.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small beauty scissors.
  • Clean mascara brush or eyebrow brush.
  • Flat eye liner brush.
  • Eye powder color in color similar to your own natural hair. Eye liner or brow pencil same colors, and sharpener.
  1. Step 1

BRUSH AND TRIM: All good looking eyebrows are neatly groomed. All eyebrows should be carefully brushed and trimmed to follow natural brow line. When you wish to regrow over plucked eyebrows you will need to frequently brush brow hair. Use clean mascara brush or brow brush along the natural growth direction of the hair. Eyebrow hair that is too long or unruly growing straight up or in the wrong direction may be trimmed with beauty scissors to fit into the brow line. Rather then pluck hair outside the brow line, try first cutting very short, to later decide which hairs you really want to pluck again. When regrowing hair back, you will want to regrow as much hair back as you can before you pluck again. Later, after the areas you wish to regrow have filled in nicely, you may pluck hair that falls very far outside the natural line of the brow. When learning to restyle your eyebrows, wait several months before picking up a pair of tweezers again.

  2. Step 2

DYE LIGHT COLORED HAIRS: Eyebrows that are "salt and pepper" (dark hair mixed with white or gray hair)may be fixed with some help from hair dye. It may be that you used to pluck these white or gray hairs out from the brow line because the color did not blend. I use the same hair dye I use on my head -- but do see see warnings below for doing this. I apply very tiny amounts with small applicators (such as a Q tip) following our less is more rule. Leave on no more then 10 minutes. Do not allow product to run into the eye. Select colors close to your head hair that you sport now, be it natural or dyed, don't keep eyebrows dark if head hair is light. Note that some white, gray, or light colored hairs may be resistant to dye and may require repeated dying. Do read the instructions on your product carefully. Some dye is not intended for the eye area -- see warnings below.

  3. Step 3

STUBBORN PRICKLY EYEBROW HAIR: After years of over plucking your eyebrows, you may find that some hair has become very prickly and does not lay flat and smooth. Chemical products such as dye and straightening products will weaken the hair. For the stubborn prickly hairs this may be just what you want, but do be careful and go slow remembering less is more. Always apply products to eyebrows very carefully with small minimal amounts careful not to get product in your eyes. Read warnings below when using products on eye area.

  4. Step 4

CURLY EYEBROW HAIRS: Even those who have never plucked may find that curly eyebrow hairs are hard to manage. Several things should help, or a combination of all. Trimming them, carefully only trimming small bits at first. Products designed to keep brows in place are available, both waxes and gels. Using hair relaxers to remove curl may be considered, but as with all products around eye area, see the warnings below.

  5. Step 5

EYE PENCILS AND POWDERS: While you regrow your over plucked eyebrows you will have some gaps of space with no hair. Fill in gaps of missing hair where your skin is showing with eye powders and or pencils. When using pencils sharpen them to get thin lines. When using powders use a thin "flat" brush and apply with straight edge into gaps of missing hairs. Experiment using both pencils and powders to see what you like. Soft looking powders work very well for inner brow near the nose whereas pencils may work best for the outer corners of the brow where you want a sharper edge. Fill in gaps only, do not try and create a new brow look, it will look fake. Follow your own natural brow line. Less is more.

  6. Step 6

HAIR REGROWTH PRODUCTS: To regrow over plucked eyebrows I can not personally recommend hair regrowth products. However, if you do chose to use a hair regrowth product use with extreme caution reading the directions and applying minimal amounts very carefully. Castor oil has been said to help hair growth and may be safer then chemical products. Also use with caution applying small amounts and avoid getting into the eye.

  7. Step 7

MAKEUP FOR THINNING BROWS: If your eyebrows are thinning you definitely do not want to pluck those few hairs left. Carefully select eye makeup colors, especially eyebrow fillers, chose colors that blend and do not stand out. Play up other aspects of the eye area to create faux fullness such as a white dot blended very well just below the point in your arch. Using your blush as your eye bone color under the brow pulls up the cheekbones into the eye area. Using base around the edges of the eyes to minimize freckles and age spots will clarify the brow line with less makeup placed directly on the brow itself. Use makeup around the brow line as opposed to on the brow line to 'point to' the brow. Nothing is harsher looking then heavily made up eyebrows. Avoid putting drawing fake eyebrows, try to just 'fill in' sparse areas where some hair already exists.

  8. Step 8

VITAMINS AND HEALTHY DIET: To regrow your eyebrows after years of over plucking take a daily vitamin and eat a healthy diet. Some hair the you try to regrow after years of over plucking may not ever grow back. But, but when you are healthy you do stand a better chance.

Tips & Warnings
  • Patience! This will take several months.
  • Less is more! Use minimal makeup. Cut smallest amount of hair possible.
  • The first time you dye your eyebrows you may want to have a professional beautician do this for you.
  • If you use any products on your eyebrows you should use extreme caution not to get products in your eyes. Read all directions, warnings and recommendations on packaging and consult a professional beautician before using by yourself.
