Tips & Warnings

  • Frequent users of the Control Panel should consider creating a desktop or Quick Launch shortcut by dragging and dropping the Control Panel icon to the preferred location. Users who cannot find or access the Control Panel may not have access to it because of administrative settings applied to their user accounts. If you are not able to access the Control Panel through normal means, or it does not respond to your mousing over it, you may not be allowed access, and you should contact the computer's administrator to resolve the problem.

  • Adjustments made in the Control Panel have the potential to cause changes that may interfere with your computer's functionality. Always make note of previous settings before making changes. If you do not know what something does, do not change it. Do not attempt to repair your Windows installation without first making backups of all of your data.
